Technical Attributes

  • Preparing annual accounts under UK GAAP/IFRS/US GAAP as relevant and required for a portfolio of clients administered by the Elian Group to agreed deadlines, to include the arranging and coordinating of audits as appropriate
  • Review and prepare monthly, quarterly, semi annual and ad-hoc management and year-end accounts as relevant and required for a portfolio of clients administered by the Elian Group to agreed deadlines
  • Maintaining of team specific accounts preparation and status monitoring spreadsheets on an ongoing basis
  • Maintaining of team specific accounts exception spreadsheets on an ongoing basis to help monitor and report the status of accounts exceptions for cases addressed both internally and externally
  • Keep up to date with technology and business tools relevant to the role, to include developments in the various accounting standards
  • Contribute to the collection of financial data for tax reporting purposes

Client Care

  • Ensure client records are clearly updated with all correspondence
  • Communicate openly and honestly with clients on a regular basis
  • Maintain client documents with integrity
  • Provide support in the opening of bank accounts
  • Liaising with the fee earners, auditors and third parties as necessary to ensure that accounts are completed and approved to facilitate sign off
  • Liaising with the fee earners as necessary in order to establish the status of accounts prepared externally

People & Team

  • Be responsible and approachable when given tasks by a senior team member
  • Provide new, innovative ideas on how to improve the efficiencies of daily tasks
  • Take care of and establish good relationships with all suppliers, team mates and clients
  • Drive personal development using all the resources available at Elian to achieve success
  • Supervise and assist with the training of members of staff on the various in-house accounting computer systems, databases, monitoring spread sheets and internal operating procedures as and when directed
  • Ensure that reconciliations between Navision and the share Awards and Classic Awards Systems are done accurately and in a timely manner
  • Supervise bookkeepers to ensure that bookkeeping is under taken accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all bookkeeping reconciliations are performed on time in Navision and Pension Master
  • Assist the client facing teams with financial data management and reporting as required


  • Accurately record all time spent dealing with client matters to ensure the client’s are correctly invoiced
  • Produce and submit all statutory returns

Skills & Expertise

  • Be able to deal with tasks independently & use own initiative
  • Must be committed and driven to achieving excellence for themselves and their client
  • Strong academic background
  • ICAEW or ACCA qualified, ‘Big 4’ experience desirable
  • Be pro active and forward thinking
  • Ensure time, effort and resources are managed effectively in order to generate maximum efficiencies, proactively communicate the status of workload to senior management as appropriate and assist other team members when uneven workloads arise
